NINA Warn-App is an application that allows you to receive warning messages via the modular alert system (MoWaS), weather warnings from the DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst) and information on all weather related emergencies all via an app. Citizens from all over Germany can use the app to receive information about the current weather situation via push notifications.
How does the app work?
NINA Warn-App is an application developed by the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK). It is a warning tool for the Germans to accompany them in emergency situations. With NINA, you can receive reports from the civil protection services for various dangerous situations such as the spread of dangerous substances or a major fire; possibly also for your current location. NINA informs its users of both severe weather reports from the meteorological service and the water levels of the Water and Maritime Administration. Information and updates from the German weather service and flood information from the competent authorities of the federal states are also integrated into the NINA Warn-App.
In the app, users can select the locations and locations from which they want to receive weather alerts. These are displayed in the "My Places" overview. In the settings menu, it is also possible to specify the level of warning to which you should be informed by push notification. Optionally, you can also receive warning messages for your current location. NINA is available as a free download for Android and iOS devices. Users of Windows and other smartphones can use it very easily.
