Microsoft PowerToys

Microsoft PowerToys is a set of tools that allows experienced users to tune and streamline their Windows experience for greater productivity. PowerToys originally appeared in Windows 95 and has recently been re-launched to add useful features for experienced users on Windows 10.

A tool for adding functionality in Windows

PowerToys are utilities for experienced Windows users looking to get the most out of the operating system. PowerToys are perfect for experienced Windows users who want to be able to do things that Windows doesn't do naturally (or easily). PowerToys for Windows 10 comes with the following utilities:

• FancyZones tools add a window manager that allows users to create and use complex window layouts more easily;
• PowerRename adds an option to the File Explorer to allow the user to rename files using search and replace or regular expression ;
• The Windows Keyboard Shortcuts Guide is a full-screen overlay that allows the user to view the current window keyboard shortcuts available in the current window;
• A walkthrough and image "resize".

PowerToys was not updated for more than 12 years before being republished as open source software for Windows 10. In the future, Microsoft has promised to enhance the potential of PowerToys for future versions of its software.
