Released in 2020, BeReal represents a French social media application. It was developed by Alexis Barreyat and was a huge success with Generation Z in early 2022. It works by making a request to users to send a photo of everything they do during a randomly chosen two-minute interval each day.

The principle of this device is that every day, the user has two minutes to post what is happening around him. He can only share the spontaneous reality of his daily life where he is when the network allows it. Users should not share more than one image per day.
